Well-Bent | Toronto, ON | Workshop | 2015
Materials: Pastels and Drawing, Object-Play, Collage, Journal
Well-Bent was a series of group-based workshop with people who have experiences of addiction. Through object and collage work, Well-Bent approached addiction as a series of interconnected intimacies and relationships. This project politicized notions of addiction, through particular attention to intersections of lived experience. Participants identified attention to feminism and the complexities of inter-racial collaboration as essential to addressing issues of addiction within community. This workshop was facilitated through the design of a peer support model for doing trauma-informed art facilitation with groups and collectives. Well-Bent is an arts-based methodology for identifying community priorities around issues of health and well-being with people who have experiences of addiction and drug use.
