The Cannery | Philadelphia, PA | Workshop | 2012
Materials: Pastel; Japanese Ink; Vellum; Collage; Poetry
University students and incarcerated women met together for 4 weeks for an art-based course of identity and leadership held inside The Cannery, a minimum-security women's facility within the Philadelphia Prison System. In a series of facilitated workshops, women worked together and used portrait mediums to explore notions of leadership on personal, community, and institutional-social levels. The Cannery project was hosted by Bryn Mawr College, with Barb Toews as coordinator and professor on the project.
