The Red Umbrella Project was part of a harm reduction program at a Toronto drop-in for women. The red umbrella is an international symbol for sex worker solidarity. Representing the “inside” and “outside” of each woman in her everyday life, participants chose objects and images that portrayed emotions while also challenging stereotypes and stigma. The collection was exhibited at a drop-in celebration for International Harm Reduction Day, as well as at a public exhibit held at Jumblies Theatre, Toronto.
